This week we celebrated our fifth birthday! We are so grateful for the opportunity to manifest so many dreams into reality in these past five years. From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank each and every one of you for your ongoing support in contributing to the magic of Daughters of India. Here’s a little recap of our journey so far.

Our Story

Daughters of India was created through an experience of precious moments with our friends in India that highlighted our awareness of the effects fast fashion was having on their industry. We fell in love with the art of hand block printing, a practice that is intrinsic to the livelihoods of many artisans, makers, and their families in India. Our aim was to create a slow fashion label with the highest ethical practices that supported the artisans and makers of each handmade garment and help keep the beautiful art of hand block printing alive. 

Giving Back

Since our beginning, contributing to the community has been a primary value of ours. As we grew, so too did our opportunities for giving back. The inspirational stories received from our artisans, makers, and their families in India in response to our customer's support, (that’s you!) were phenomenal. The art of hand block printing is reviving and we couldn’t be happier about it! Our mission began to expand in observation of how powerful women can be when they have the opportunity to support one another. We aligned with Sewing the Seeds, and with your help we continue to support women empowerment initiatives in India, and all over the world.

Sustainability

As an ethical slow fashion label with a focus on women empowerment, we love embracing a sustainable future. For us, the essence of sustainability is living with awareness and practising presence. Our team in India cares as much about the planet as we do. This is why honouring Mother Earth through slow, sustainable, and ethical production will always be at the forefront of everything we do, every decision we make, and the energy that is weaved into every garment Daughters of India creates. We believe taking care of our planet takes care of us. This means making the conscious choice to choose love, in every moment. 

Our Future

Daughters of India was built from a foundation of deep trust and the love of giving. For our founders, giving is the most magical blessing of all. As we ponder the future of Daughters of India, we reflect, and realise that giving has been a shared intention of all involved in our journey so far. This warms our hearts with inspiration as we wonder how we can give more. We hope to support more artisans, makers, and their families in India, and wish to share with you how much your contribution is helping. We will continue supporting women empowerment, showing women how worthy you are, and how successful you can be when you follow your heart and listen to your intuitive guidance. As we continue to grow, we trust our intentions come from a space of love and honour the divinity in nature through preservation and respect for tradition. Through this, we hope to show the world how giving is the greatest gift of all. For love is the ultimate goal of our future.
