Since our establishment, we’ve shared a dream with our makers for empowering all women to feel honoured with deep reverence for their being. Slowly, with love and intention, we’re empowering this dream.

Barakat Bundle

As a partner of Barakat Bundle, every Daughters of India purchase contributes directly towards providing local communities in India with life-saving care and education bundles for mothers and newborns in need.

Barakat Bundle is a women-owned, volunteer-run, non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the health of women and newborns in India by working with local communities to create and distribute care bundles for expecting mothers.

We have pledged an ongoing monthly donation of $5,000 to support their powerful initiatives.

Integrated within existing health care systems, the Barakat Bundle utilises human centred design and evidence-based practices to prevent unnecessary deaths and provide life-saving care. Developed and distributed by medical and public health professionals, each bundle provides items that are essential for a safe birth and a successful first year for a mother and her newborn.

Barakat means blessing. Babies are a blessing to their families, Barakat Bundles are a blessing for their families.

As a partner of Sewing the Seeds, every Daughters of India purchase contributes directly towards helping Indian women from marginalised communities receive an education, training, and meaningful wages in a safe and supportive environment.

Sewing the Seeds is a women’s empowerment initiative that utilises education and creativity through the enterprise of slow fashion to break the cycle of poverty for Indian women.

We have pledged an ongoing monthly donation of $5,000 to support their powerful initiatives.

Operating under a slow fashion ethos, Sewing the Seeds products are made ethically and fair trade using upcycled materials. Their purpose built centre runs training programs on business and finance skills as well as women’s health education. Empowering these women with self-confidence in a safe and supportive environment can be life changing.

Their mission is to break the cycle of poverty for Indian women through creativity and enterprise by creating an environment of economic independence for marginalised women!

Sewing the Seeds support women from nomadic, tribal, sex worker and disabled communities, whereby cultural traditions including child marriage and gender based violence can have a significant impact on their lives. Many are single mothers.

Sewing the Seeds is a non-profit organisation who provide these women with training in sewing and textiles as well as education on health and life skills.

Their mission is to become a fully self-sufficient organisation and break the cycle of poverty for Indian women through creativity and enterprise by creating an environment of self determinism and economic independence. Our aim is to assist with enhancing their outreach and employing teachers to deliver skills and education so they can reach their goals of self-sufficiency.

Since 2017 we have had an on-going agreement to order upcycled sari bags from Sewing the Seeds which we gift to our customers in their orders. We have also ordered a limited line of their products to sell through our website in order to support their outreach and assist their goal of becoming self-sufficient.

Through our partnership, every Daughters of India order assists with the empowerment of these women. By providing a safe and communal working space to build their self-confidence and financial independence, these women can rise above the circumstances they were born into and contribute to holistic change that benefits the community as a whole.
